It's so difficult to choose a 'Portrait of the Month' out of the hundreds of portraits I edit and I'll be honest I haven't posted one in a while because, well, life just got in the way! Were at the end of March 2022 and I'm finally getting back on track so here is my first portrait of the month in 2022, the absolutely fabulous Vaughan family.
Thank you so much guys for the fun and the giggles in the studio and your gorgeous portrait art piece looks stunning up in your home 😍 (brownie points Sam for getting it up so fast!), I'll share what they chose later in the blog.
So why did I choose this portrait?
Some may say they're not looking at the camera, not posed, not looking at each other (blah, blah, blah....)!
Well I can tell you that my main objectives when capturing a family isn't any of the above. It's actually to capture their connection, capture interaction, capture the fun and let everyone have a great experience with me where they get to make memories together whilst I capture the moments for them to treasure and remember when the children are grown. Yes we get the posed portraits with great eye contact for the viewer and those are treasured too but will they spark a conversation in 20 years time about how much fun we had and do you remember Harley carefully counting the blocks but then knocking them off the box every time we tried to build his name in a tower? How about when Serena was throwing Spiderman at us to get Harley laughing and looking her way! (Yes that really happened and I even had to edit out Spiderman from some of my favourite portraits!)
So there you have it, I guess I chose this portrait because I love the fun and I love the memory it has given this beautiful family.
As promised here is the fabulous wall art they chose, my 'Rock the Boxes' 13 image special in a simple, silver/grey, box frame. A perfect option for this fun filled session when it's too hard to just choose one portrait.
